2010 YS Tennis Practice and Meet Schedule (updated 7/24/10)

2010 Wood Valley Youth Tennis Program

We are excited to begin another fantastic season of Youth Sports Tennis!  This year we are improving the practice schedule in order to offer more practice time and court space for large teams.

We have an awesome coaching staff this year, who are excited to share their enthusiasm fo the game with the kids.

Head coach - Drew Chandler and Ben Snell

Please welcome Drew Chandler and Ben Snell as our co-head coaches this year.  Both have been assistant coaches for WV Youth Sports tennis for the past several years, and we are excited to have them back!  Drew is the tennis team captain this year at Raleigh Charter High School, and will graduate this year.  Ben is a 4-year letterman on the Leesville Road High School tennis team, and will also graduate from LRHS this year.

Assistant coach - Rich Frost

Please welcome Rich Frost as our assistant tennis coach this year.   Rich has worked with the team in the past, so he is a familiar face.  Rich is the tennis team captain on the Leesville Road High School tennis team, and will graduate from LRHS this year!

The program focuses on introducing beginner players to the basic skills and scoring.  The older intermediate and advanced level players will learn to improve their skills, develop strategies, and compete in league matches.

Copper – for the beginner player still working on the basic fundamentals of the game. This group will not be able to          participate in matches due to an inability to keep score, have consistent serves or keep the ball in play with regularity. The Copper teams will be divided into a Copper A and Copper B teams – teams are limited to 25 players for each team.

Bronze – for players who have played full court matches and kept score on their own.

Silver – for players with significant match playing experience.

Gold – for players who are, or are equivalent to, good high school players in the area.
